Picture of Ashley JollyWhy SADS UK was established

SADS UK - The Ashley Jolly SAD Trust, is a charity that helps to prevent premature loss of life and to improve the lives of those adversely affected by cardiac arrhythmia.

Please help us in our campaign to raise awareness about cardiac arrhythmia and save lives.

SADS UK raises awareness about heart conditions that can cause a Sudden Arrhythmic Death (SAD). The charity works with Government Departments to introduce new guidelines to safeguard those who may be at risk from a fatal cardiac arrhythmia. The charity raises awareness about conditions that may cause SADS and symptoms that need further investigation. It highlights the fact that conditions can be hereditary.

SADS UK and members nationwide fundraise to purchase and donate heart monitoring equipment to doctors’ surgeries and hospitals throughout the country. Our aim is to make heart monitoring equipment readily available to evaluate people who may be at risk of SADS, so that they may be treated. Defibrillators (AED’s) are also donated to schools, leisure centres and other locations where they may be used to prevent loss of life.

About the founder

   Minimize

Anne Jolly, the Chairperson of SADS UK, the Ashley Jolly SAD Trust, established the Trust after her fit and healthy 16 year old son Ashley died unexpectedly in his sleep; she understands the trauma and devastation of losing a child. Anne is a bereavement counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. SADS UK provides help and support throughout the country.

SADS UK supports research into the causes of cardiac arrhythmias. This research is essential in order to improve methods of detection and provide even more effective treatments in the future.

SADS UK was granted International Affiliate status to The SADS Foundation, Salt Lake City, Utah in December 2000. SADS UK works together with SADS USA, Canada, Australia and Europe.
